COACH TO DEVELOP

The skill of coaching is critical in helping your teams create positive change in their behavior, and accelerate high performance. As you grow your own coaching skills and observe the positive impact it can have on your team, you’ll begin to see why coaching is our #1 priority as leaders.

NAVIGATE CONFLICT

JANUARY 24 | 1:00-5:00PM (note afternoon time) | TD TRAINING ROOM, VAIL

Conflict is the origin of possibilities. This creates the opportunity for growth, creativity, and new solutions.  As you improve your skills at dealing with conflict, negotiating, and helping others express themselves with respect to all involved, you can create a spirit of cooperation that fosters openness, directness, and the advancement of ideas.

Leadership Essentials

MODULE 2: DISC – UNDERSTAND YOUR LEADERSHIP STYLE

JANUARY 28 | 1:00-4:30PM

This module emphasizes maximizing intrinsic leadership capabilities by leveraging the DISC model. By focusing on personal strengths and studying how you naturally manage conflict, you will find opportunities to improve your communication style and leadership style. Personal responsibility, language of leadership, personal values, and self-purpose are focuses of this module.

MODULE 3: COMMUNICATE AS A LEADER

JANUARY 24 | 9:00-10:30AM

As you enter the third module of the Leadership Essentials Program, you are armed with a synopsis of how leadership influences your team. Your base knowledge of expectations and individual opportunity areas will serve as a foundation for module three, which focuses on the standards of communication within Vail Resorts. This module covers concepts of organizational communication such as audience, messaging, mediums, and outcomes. A special emphasis is put on providing the “why,” or reasoning behind a message, when communicating.

MODULE 4: MANAGE EXPECTATIONS ON YOUR TEAM

JANUARY 24 | 10:45AM-12:15PM

As you enter the fourth module of the Leadership Essentials Program, you are acquainted with your roles, your capabilities, and your teams in general. The purpose of this module is to understand and then apply fundamental skills for achieving team results. You will be able to distinguish goals from expectations, set clear expectations, and hold staff accountable.

MODULE 7: DELIVER PERFORMANCE FEEDBACK

JANUARY 30 | 1:00-2:30PM | PARK HYATT, BEAVER CREEK (note alternate location)

This module will teach you about both sustaining and developmental approaches to delivering feedback, and also provide specific guidance on how to receive feedback. You should be prepared with prior knowledge on the best ways to communicate, delegate, and manage.

MODULE 8: DEVELOP TALENT ON YOUR TEAM

JANUARY 30 | 2:45-4:15PM | PARK HYATT, BEAVER CREEK (note alternate location)

In order to achieve team goals and retain top performers, you must selectively seek out and provide career development opportunities for your teams. This module will review the reasons for focusing on talent and teach you how to develop talent internally. You will learn how to identify employees who achieve, exceed and greatly exceed expectations and those who demonstrate Vail Resorts’ core values.

BASE CAMP

JANUARY 25  | 9:00AM-4:00PM | TD TRAINING ROOM, VAIL

Basecamp provides an instructor-led opportunity to gain a deeper level of understanding of what it means to be a leader at Vail Resorts through exemplifying each VR leadership competency. This is an all-day class where participants will examine our six VR leadership competencies; Re-Imagine, Out Front, Drive, Develop, Connect, and Passion. Grade 26 and above are rated on these leadership competencies as part of our Performance Management process. Gain a deeper understanding of what holds 50% of your merit. All team leaders as well as aspiring grades are encouraged to attend.

How TO REGISTER FOR A CLASS

  1. Either click Browse to view the Learning Catalog or click on the Search function (magnifying glass icon) to type in a specific class that you’d like to register for. Both of these options are located in the upper right hand corner of the homepage.
  2. Click on View Classes to see specific time and date offerings of that class.
  3. Select Enroll for the desired date/time.

FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD?

Call IT Support at x4357 (HELP) and they will help you reset it.

WITHDRAWING FROM A CLASS

If you are unable to attend a class that you are registered for, please remember to withdraw yourself directly on the LIFT:

  1. Click on the Waffle Icon in the upper-left corner and select Me
  2. Find the class or course you want to withdraw from, and under the Actions column click the drop-down button and select Drop
